Tamaraw in the Green by Lakandiwa Tamaraw in the Green by Lakandiwa
Tamaraw in the Green

"Seeking the great bull
In the verdant growth a
Along the rolling ranges
Awaken to a rustling
And find the watcher amidst the green"

2011

Metallic Gel Pen on Illustration Board

*The Tamaraw is the largest land animal in the Philippines, which is a cousin of the water buffalo. Although very elusive, they are highly endangered.

The Tamaraw is a very fierce creature, and that is why it was chosen as the mascot of the Far Eastern University.

Thank you Stephanie

The floral motif is know as "ukkil" among the Tausug people and "okir" the Maranao people in my country . . . it took me years to master this, without referring to any samples . . . and with this work as my completely "ukkil" drawn piece

Salamat (thanks) at samuli (and until then),
